When it Snows, These Machines are Ready To Go

THE CHALLENGE

As a city that sees lots of snow, Montreal, Canada relies on Roxboro to keep things moving at the airport, on the highways and at major shopping centres across the region. As one of the largest construction and snow removal companies in the business, Roxboro has always relied on its extensive fleet of more than 130 wheel loaders to get the job done. But, in 2017 with winter approaching and some machines coming to the end of their life cycle, it was time to add some new muscle to its snow removal arsenal.

THE NEED

Roxboro wanted something new after relying on other various brands of wheel loaders for many years. With temperatures falling around -30°C this year, it needed its machines to be cold weather ready. The power to move lots of snow along with the versatility to continue regular construction work were priority requirements. Equally important was service and maintenance of the machines and something that would meet new emission standards while, at the same time, being easy to keep on the road.

THE WAJAX SOLUTION

Wajax presented three different models of Hitachi wheel loaders – ZW180, ZW220 and the ZW250. The Hitachi loaders’ engines, Cummins and Isuzu, have proven to be very efficient and able to handle extremely cold temperatures – exactly what Roxboro needed.

THE IMPACT
